Cassie later moved her family to Los Angeles, California, where she completed her education at Evans Adult School in 1982. She worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District for 32 years as a supervisor and later served Los Angeles County facilities for 10 years before retiring.
In recognition of 50 years of marriage, Cassie and her husband were honored by Antonio Villaraigosa, Mayor of Los Angeles.
Cassie loved the Lord and served faithfully as a deaconess in Moreno Valley, California and later in churches in DeSoto, Texas and Lancaster, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleophus Lee Turner Sr., and her son, Charles Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, foster children, and great-great-grandchildren.
