

Charles “Charlie” Gabriel Contreras, Sr., age 60, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 surrounded by his family and numerous friends, after succumbing to medical injuries incurred from a tragic motorcycle accident. Charles was born March 22, 1955 in Ennis, Texas to Ricardo and Filomena Cruz Contreras. He was a proud graduate of Ennis High School, Class of 1974. He went on to attend the University of Texas at Arlington before being recruited to the Dallas Fire Department. Charlie was a well-respected fire-fighter who risked his life to save others for 33 years before retiring in June, 2011. During his time as a firefighter, he helped found the Dallas Hispanic Firefighters Association, where he was an active member. After retirement, Charlie found another community within the motorcycle world. He was a founding member and president of The Halligans Motorcycle Club of Dallas. Charlie also enjoyed playing video games, working on computers, dancing, and listening to Tejano music. He was also the proud father of two sons, Charles Jr. and Luccas Contrereas, and daughter, Lauren Contreras. He is also survived by his sister, Josephine Aguilar; two brtohers, Eliseo(Lee) and Richard Contreras; five newphews, two nieces, and numerous friends from the fire department, motorcycle club, and greater Dallas community.
