

Mr. Charles Ray Hathcock, affectionately known as Pops, passed away on November 18, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on July 5, 1932, in Ennis, Texas, he was a beloved, cherished, and selfless individual who touched the lives of many with his gentle and kind-hearted nature.
Pops was preceded in death by the love of his life, Christine Vonelle Hathcock, to whom he was married for nearly 60 years; his parents, John Rayford Hathcock and Tommie LaVesta Hathcock; and his children: Jimmy Gammon, Vicki Newsome, and Christine Newman.
He is survived by his three daughters: Diana (Doug) Fraser, Kathy (Mark Llanas) Garrett, and Jana (James) Jones, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Pops is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
A veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War, Pops proudly served his country as a member of the Texas National Guard, flying B-52 Bombers. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church at The Fields and was known for his love of God, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. Pops enjoyed Clint Eastwood movies and old westerns, as well as spending time in his recliner drinking coffee. A hard-working man, he retired from Safeway Stores as a store manager. He loved gardening and tended to his vegetable garden each year, cultivating okra, tomatoes, bell peppers, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, and jalapeños.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church at The Fields, located at 1401 Carrollton Pkwy, Carrollton, TX 75010, on December 9, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The funeral service will follow at the same location from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Committal will take place at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, located at 6300 S. R.L. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, TX 75232, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm; military honors for Charles will be rendered at this time.
Pops will be dearly missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love, faithfulness, and devotion to family and community.
