

Charlie Marie Depoma was born in Dallas, Texas on July 3, 1926, to parents Henry and Helen Truitt. She passed away on February 1, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. Charlie attended Woodrow Wilson High School and SMU in Dallas. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and traveling across the United States and abroad. Charlie worked with the USO during WWII and worked as a secretary during her marriage to Joe Depoma, Jr., then worked for many years at various schools in DISD until her retirement. She attended East Grand Baptist Church for many years, now known as Grandview Baptist Church, where she is currently a member. She taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and volunteered with many other church committees. Charlie has devoted her life to serving God and working with others. She loved shopping and visiting with family and friends. Charlie is survived by her sons Doug Depoma and wife Janet and David Depoma and wife Candy; grandchildren Paige Shanklin and husband Brent, Julie Wagner; great grandchildren Slayton Hilyard, Bain Shanklin, Briar Shanklin, and gran-dogs Paisley, Riley, and Spike. Charlie was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Joe Depoma Jr. and many loving friends Visitation will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 12:30-5pm. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Grandview Baptist Church at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Charlie, to Grandview Baptist Church in Mesquite, TX.
