

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Katherine and Charles Euclid Lyles; his wife of over 60 years, Verna; sister, Thelma Symns; grandson, Cliff Jones; and many other beloved family and friends.
Clifford is survived by his daughter, Lana Jones and husband Jerry; grandson, Scott Jones and wife Keri; granddaughter, Christy Holy and husband Steve; five great-grandchildren, Jadie, Jentry, and Lawson Jones, and Ava and Ella Holy; nephews, Jerry and Larry Symns, and Bryan and Steven Wendt; nieces, Philis Knox and Karen Keswick; and numerous other family and friends.
Clifford was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He served his family and church to the best of his ability.
Clifford graduated from Forest High School in 1939, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942, where he became part of “The Greatest Generation” by becoming part of the Navy’s “Lighter Than Air” squadron. He flew blimps along the coastline patrolling for enemy submarines. Clifford was discharged from the Navy in 1946, and went to work for Ford Motor Company, from which he retired in 1976.
Dad’s legacy is profound, and has a clear message to all who knew and loved him. He was always a gentleman – kind, loving, and helpful. He believed in the Golden Rule, and lived it.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Clifford’s life will be held Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 6550 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
