To Michelle, Michael and Family,
I want to offer my and my family's sincerest sympathy and condolences.  What a fantastic Man and human being!  He was a Dad like my Dad, always welcoming with a bright smile, handshake and engaging conversation!   From day one as a youngster, he always made me comfortable on my many visits to your home and he actually knew my Dad's family members in  Dallas.  I will truly miss our conversations and shared alliance.  I am truly honored to have known him.  He has left a rich legacy and impressivenes that will continue to last me through my remaining days.  May you find comfort knowing  he is resting comfortably in the arms of his Lord and Savior!

To Clifton James. This is Harold B. Hunter III. You will be missed. Thank you for everything you did for me at our Alma Mater. Knowing that I had family that also attended the school was a surprise to me but it brought me joy knowing that we had a legacy there. The times we talked were always us catching up and I appreciate you for touching my life. - Harold

I will keep the stories about your life that you would tell me when we would stay up eating snacks in the middle of the night. Mickey was one of my Mother's, Lorean Holmes', favorite cousins.  They used to call each other on a regular basis until his health fail.  Mom's health was declining as well.

As I write this I think about Clifton and how good he has been to my family(Haglar and Nola Smith family).  There was never a time that when we visited West Covina that he was not there making sure we were taken care of.  He also was especially there for our older Sister Othella.  Words cannot express how much he was appreciated.  So go on take your rest cousin!  We will meet you on the other side!

My heart goes out to the family of Mr. James. I will never forget how he and his wife and children embraced our family back in West Covina. The pool parties were unforgettable. There were not many black people back in West Covina at that time. The James family provided a safe haven for several black families and their children. They welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like family. May God hold your entire family in his arms and bring you comfort.

Michelle (Alfred), Michael, Grands, Gert, Glen, Joyce and "entire" James Family: Know you have our love, heartfelt sympathy and prayers on the passing of our beloved, Mr. Clifton James. Your father, grandfather, brother, and my cousin, was some kind of "MAN!" I knew "of" Clifton, that he was son of Uncle Bishop and Aunt Stella Mae, but did not "know" him 'til I went to West Covina to visit Othella, years later. He and she were very close. Later on, each time I went, he'd pick me up from LAX & take me back! He gave me a tour of places in LA, we'd talk about family, he showed me family pictures and his special Orchids...Then, it was almost a losing battle to repay him for his services. He LOVED his people!!! Olivia was right in there helping, esp. after Othella's health began to fail. I cannot tell it all! He was more like a brother/cousin. Through the years, I'd send birthday, Christmas cards & talk on the phone. Of late, I'd just call and leave a V.M. at birthday time...Now, the soldier has been honorably discharged, to study war no more! See you in the morning, Cuz!
