Coby was born in Lansing, Michigan ,July 23, 1957, to Robert Phillips and Dorothy Richardson Phillips. Coby grew up in Muncie, Indiana ,and Fort Meyers, Florida, and graduated from Fort Meyers High School in 1975. She went on to graduate from Lee County Technical College in 1979, to later become a Medical Assistant and Orthopedic Surgical Scrub Nurse.
Coby was a firecracker by nature. She had a sarcastic sense of humor, was quick-witted and always had an entertaining story to tell. Whether it had been 3 days or 3 years since you had seen Coby, she had the ability to pick up where you left off with her. As a devoted parent, Coby’s children made up her entire world. When they were growing up, she loved taking her kids skiing, to country-music concerts, the zoo and hosting Thanksgiving holidays for her extended family. Coby’s love for her children was all encompassing to include all their “fur-babies” she took in over the years. Coby had become an advocate for Autism – diving into research, promoting greater support for those diagnosed and educating friends and family.
In addition to her partner and children, Coby is survived by her siblings, nieces, nephews and beloved pets Harlow and Babs. Others include longtime friends and extended family.
She was predeceased by her sister Brooke Ziegler (2014) and parents Robert (1986) and Dorothy Phillips (1989).
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 23 (Coby’s birthday), at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX, 75225 at 2pm. The family requests that guests wear brightly colored clothing.
