On Sunday, November 4, 2018, Daniel Hughes Foley passed away at the age of 95. The Viewing is Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 5:30 - 7pm and the Rosary from 7-8pm at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, TX 75220. The funeral is Friday, November 9, 2018 at 10am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 1809 W. Davis Street, Dallas, TX 75208. Burial to follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
Dan was born on February 5, 1923 in Dallas, TX to John Joseph and Mary Elise Foley. He attended grade school at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Dallas and high school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Dallas. Dan then went to the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana where he graduated with his business degree in 1943. Upon graduation, Dan entered the Air Force as a ball turret gunner stationed in the states during World War II. After returning home from the war, he married the love of his life, Frances Hartman, on October 4, 1944. In December of 1945, the first of their 7 children arrived. Dan and Frances reared four daughters, Kathleen, Coleen, Eileen, and Maureen, and three sons, Daniel, Patrick and Michael.
Dan had a passion for business working first for International Harvester. He then became the Vice President of Strickland Transportation moving on to establish his own businesses, Foley Leasing Company and Metro Ford Truck Sales. In addition to his zeal for business, Dan valued family, faith, education and hard work. Dan made his presence known wherever he went, and he will truly be missed.
Dan was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Frances, three brothers, Joseph, James and Tom, and two sisters, Justine and Aileen. He is survived by all 7 of his children - Kathleen Prindible, Daniel Foley and wife Jessie, Patrick Foley and wife Judy, Coleen Warren and husband John (Skip), Michael Foley and wife Beverly, Eileen Beard, Maureen Foley and significant other Michael Prindible, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and a plethora of nieces, nephews and cousins.
