
On Sunday, February 10, 2013, Daniel Paul, former City Auditor of Dallas, TX and Baltimore, MD, passed away in Dallas, Texas at the age of 89. Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Kanter Paul (nee Uhlfelder), and preceded in death by his first wife Florence (nee Shevitz). He is also survived by his loving sons and daughters-in-law: Drs. Craig Paul and Julie Chapman of Dallas, TX and Martin and Jamie Paul of Herndon, VA; his stepdaughter and son-in-law: Michele and Brian Needel of Baltimore, MD; his grandchildren (and spouses): Jenny Paul of New York, NY; Gillian and Aaron Bloomfield of New Haven, CT; Becky and Jeremy Reichman of Dallas, TX; Jacob Paul of Providence, RI; Jonathan Paul of Syracuse, NY; and Madeline Paul of Herndon, VA; his Step Grandchildren: Ashley and Jermaine Smith, Carly Needel, and Courtney Needel of Baltimore MD; Step Great Granddaughter: Dakota Smith; Sisters and Brothers-In-Law: Mildred Paul of Baltimore, MD, Edith and Leon Rosenthal of Hillsborough, CA; Annette Levinson of Santa Maria, CA; and Sherry and Morrie Hodes of Los Angeles, CA; Brothers and Sisters-in-Law: Raymond and Marianne Paul of Baltimore, MD, Lenny and Lois Paul of Huntington Beach, CA and Jack Paul of West Hills, CA; and “Uncle Danny’s” dozens of nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his sisters: Sylvia Holliday and Marian Hersh; and brothers: Sol and Melvin Paul. After serving his country in WWII, Daniel was a life long civil servant and CPA culminating in his former positions of City Auditor of Baltimore, Maryland, and City Auditor of Dallas, Texas. Daniel graduated Cum Laude from University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Science degree and received the “CPA of the Year“ Award by the Dallas Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs on May 23, 1995. He was also a very proud recipient of the 1972 Achievement Award from the Metropolitan Civic Association of Baltimore for “…saving Baltimore taxpayers millions of dollars through his dedication and devoted diligence….” Daniel has written many papers on governmental auditing, and served on many national auditing committees. Danny loved life, loved his family, loved to sing, and was as nice of a man as you would ever meet. Funeral services are planned for the chapel at the Sparkman-Hillcrest Cemetery at 10:00 am, Wednesday, February 13, 2013. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice.
