Quiet, introspective, and reserved, Daniel did not speak often, but when he did, his words were marked by a dry, understated humor that caught people pleasantly off guard. Once Daniel made a friend, he kept them for life, with many friendships dating back to kindergarten. He was known as a kind, compassionate, loyal, and thoughtful presence whose steadiness brought comfort to those around him, and many would say he was a beautiful person with a pure soul.
Daniel earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. He later pursued his passion for brewing at the Siebel World Brewing Academy, studying in Chicago and Munich, Germany. He worked as a brewer for Franconia Brewing, Second Rodeo Brewing, and The Truck Yard, where he was respected for his skill, dedication, and attention to detail.
Daniel found great satisfaction in carpentry. He purchased a home and undertook a complete renovation, taking it down to the studs and rebuilding it with his own hands. He also loved to cook and perfected several recipes that family and friends fondly remember—though none have quite been able to replicate.
Daniel was a Christian, professed his belief in Jesus Christ, and was baptized at the age of 13. Earlier this year, he began attending Highland Country Fellowship, though illness eventually prevented him from continuing.
Daniel is survived by his parents, Wiley E. Thompson and Kathy Thompson; his brother and sister-in-law, Wiley C. and Tina Thompson; his sister, Shannon Thompson; and his beloved nephew and niece, Noah and Isabelle. He is also lovingly remembered by his partner, Curzon Innes, and her three children, Capri, Eva, and Braxton, who held a special place in his heart.
Daniel will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his quiet strength, sharp wit, craftsmanship, and the enduring love he shared with his family and friends.
Visitation will be taking place at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home January 4th, 2026 at 2pm-6pm. Graveside service will take place at Sparkman/Hillcrest Memorial Park on January 5th, 2026 at 2pm, followed by a Memorial Service at Highland Country Fellowship at 3pm.
