Davelyn Jones Erickson

Davelyn Erickson passed away on May 10, 2016 at the age of 93. She was a Dallas native, the daughter of Dave and Ruby Jane Jones, born on November 12, 1922. She attended Highland Park High School and Colorado Women’s College in Denver. While there, she met her husband Henry (Hank) Erickson. They were married June 24, 1941. After living in San Francisco for one year, they returned to Dallas to live and start their family. Davey loved bridge, poker club, travel and keeping up with her many friends and family. She was also most proud of her father being the founder and Chairman of the Board of Jones-Blair Paint Co. She moved to the Legacy at Willow Bend Assisted Living in Plano in 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Dorothy Nell, and her husband. She is survived by her son, Charles (Hank) Erickson and wife Rosemary; her daughter, Susie Waddelow and husband Don; grandchildren, Eric (Debbie), Brian (Sharon), and Ryan (Karleen) Erickson, Christine (Joseph) Williams, Kristin Waddelow, and Jeff (Kim) Waddelow; great-grandchildren, Corey, Hailey, Casey, Christian, Garrett, and Wyatt Erickson, Hope Williams, and Kendall and Ryan Waddelow. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. The service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel and interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. A reception will follow the burial in the L.N. “Bill” Sparkman Family Lounge. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Erickson’s memory to Vitas Hospice.
