With hearts full of love and deep sorrow, we celebrate the life and legacy of Debora Laws Davis, who passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025. Born on September 29, 1955, in Stuttgart, Germany, Debora was the sixth of ten children born to the late William A. Laws, Sr. and Christine Y. (Nelms) Laws.
Debora’s life was defined by devotion to family, the strength of her spirit, and the generosity of her love. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her sister Pamela Laws Favors, and co-parents Ralph Davis, Sr. and Kenneth Douglas I.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by her siblings: William A. Laws, Jr. (Plano, TX), Patricia Laws Craig (Raleigh, NC), Carol Laws Krause (Princeton, NJ), Cathy Laws Hamilton (Staten Island, NY), Wanda Laws Dodd (Dallas, TX), Anthony Laws, Sr. (Dallas, TX), Christie Laws (Dallas, TX), and Astrid Laws Gulley (Grand Prairie, TX). Her role as a sister was one she cherished deeply, always nurturing the bonds that held her family together.
Debora was the devoted mother of Ralph Davis, Jr. (Dallas, TX), Lalizia Larkin (Katy, TX), Jason Laws (Dallas, TX), Phoebe Dunbar (Atlanta, GA), Jessica Laws (Dallas, TX), and Kenneth Douglas II (Dallas, TX). Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Tremont, Jaszmyne, and Ayden Davis; Jevon and Isaiah Larkin; Jazzlon, Jaylon, and Jala Laws; and Kennajai and Kenneth Douglas III. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Brandon and Brooklyn Davis, Madison West, Ava Jones, Jai'Lani Washington, and Rayne Laws — each of whom brought light and laughter into her world.
She is also survived by co-parent Rickey Dunbar, dear family friend Lewis Bollin, and her significant other Charles Harvey, whose unwavering love and constant support were a source of comfort and strength, especially through her final days.
Debora graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas, TX, and went on to study computer science at OIC, which led to a professional path with Union Bankers Life Insurance. She later found success and joy in the retail space before embracing her most cherished role as a homemaker, where her nurturing spirit truly flourished.
An avid gardener, exceptional cook, and talented sketch artist, Debora’s creativity and warmth touched every aspect of her life. Her home became a haven not just for her family, but for friends, neighbors, and her children’s companions — all of whom were welcomed with open arms and treated as her own.
She was the heartbeat of her community and the anchor of her family — a woman whose love was boundless, whose wisdom was quietly profound, and whose legacy of compassion will live on through all who were blessed to know her.
Debora Laws Davis lived with grace, gave with her whole heart, and left a mark that time cannot fade. Her memory is a blessing, and her love will echo through generations.
