Denna Shirley Levine Ely

Born January 18, 1932 in Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully September 17, 2014 at home with her family by her bedside. Preceded in death by her parents William and Edith Levine, sister and brother-in-law Rose Marion and Lee H. Berg, and niece Terry Jean Berg.

She is survived by husband Jerry to whom she was married for over sixty two years, daughter Susan and sons Robbie and Rick, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marilyn and Dr. Zeck Leiberman as well as many nieces and nephews.

Denna graduated from Highland Park High School, attended The University of Texas in Austin where she was president of her sorority. She graduated from S.M.U. with a degree in Sociology. Denna loved to travel, play tennis, dance and shop with Rosie and her dearest friend Doris Budner. She was a truly devoted daughter and deeply loving mother and wife. Jerry often called her his glue that kept everything together.

The family wishes to thank Brenda Wells for the devotion and expertise she gave Denna as her care giver. Also, our sincerest thanks to Maria Mitchell for nineteen years as house manager, superb cook and loyal friend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Rose Marion and Lee H. Berg Building Fund at Temple Emanu-EL, 8500 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, TX 75225 or the charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held at Temple Emanu-EL in the Olan Sanctuary, on Sunday September 21st at 3:00pm with Rabbi David Stern officiating.
