Dolores Dawson, age 74, peacefully passed away and entered into the gates of Heaven on Sunday, December 28, 2025 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on September 14, 1951 to J.W. and Dorothy Richey. Dolores was raised in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas, Texas and graduated from W.W. Samuel High School in 1970. She was married to Donald E. Dawson Sr. and together they raised 4 children born in 1970, 1976, 1979 and 1982.
A woman of unwavering faith, Dolores, lived her life as a testament to God’s grace. She was a "God-fearing" woman who found strength in prayer and was a cornerstone of her church community. Her deep spiritual roots guided every decision she made as well as raising her family with the same values of love, integrity, and devotion to the Lord.
For over 20 years, Dolores served her community as a dedicated school bus driver. To the many children who climbed the steps of her bus, she was more than just a driver—she was a guardian, a friendly face to start the day, and a steady hand they could trust. She took great pride in her work, ensuring every child made it home safely, often treating them as if they were her own.
Above all, Dolores was the heartbeat of her home. As a devoted mother of four, she poured her life into her children. Her love was selfless and her commitment to her family was her top priority. Whether she was offering words of wisdom, a listening ear, or a warm meal, her children always knew they were her greatest joy.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Dorothy Richey, her brother David Richey, and sister Rebecca Nabors.
She is survived by her daughter, Tia Cavanagh and sons Donald Dawson Jr., Derrick Dawson, and Darrell (Bubba) Dawson.
Dolores was a living testimony of God’s grace and mercy. A woman of profound faith, who didn’t just preach the Word; she walked it every day. Her loving spirit was a light to everyone who knew her, radiating a warmth and kindness that felt like they were at home. Whoever she encountered, she would gift them a handmade pocket prayer square that had a cross inside with a short prayer attached for them to carry with them. She met every challenge with prayer and every person with a compassionate heart, leaving a lasting impact on her family, church, and community.
