

She was born August 18, 1931, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Melvin F. and Lillian R. Adler.
A 1949 Paschal High School graduate, she attended Texas Christian University for a year before going to the University of Oklahoma, where she graduated in 1953 with a B.A. in Journalism and was editor of the OU student newspaper, the Oklahoma Daily.
After a year as a Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporter, she went to San Antonio in 1954 as a San Antonio Light reporter. In 1955, she covered the founding convention of the Texas Federation of Republican Women in San Antonio.
Moving to Dallas in 1958, she worked for a public relations agency and the Petroleum Engineer Publishing Co. before joining Texas Instruments in 1961.
In much of her 33-year Texas Instruments career, she served in communications capacities with Geophysical Service Inc. (GSI), TI's seismic exploration subsidiary. GSI was the original company from which TI evolved. She was a supervisor of technical publications and was editor of the GSI Grapevine, the company magazine.
She completed an MBA degree in Business Management at the University of Dallas in 1979 under the TI educational assistance program.
After GSI was spun off to Halliburton in 1989, she joined TI Internal Communications, where she became financial administrator. She retired in 1994 from the Semiconductor Management Systems operation.
After her retirement, she served as headquarters manager for two years for the Kilby Awards Foundation.
In 1960, she began volunteering in her precinct for the Republican Party, becoming precinct chairman in 1964. Also in 1964, she joined the Dallas Downtown Republican Women's Club, serving six terms as club president. Also, she served the Dallas County Council of Republican Women as director of publicity, treasurer and recording secretary. She was appointed historian of the Texas Federation of Republican Women and arranged for the contribution of the TFRW archives to the DeGolyer Library at Southern Methodist University.
In 2012, the Dallas County Council of Republican Women honored her with the Anita Hill Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her contributions to her local club, the council, TFRW and her volunteering in many GOP candidates' campaigns.
She was a Texas Instruments Alumni Association founding member when TIAA was organized in 1999 and was editor of the quarterly TI Alumni News.
A lifetime member of the TI Alumni Association and University of Oklahoma Alumni Association, she was a member of the Roundtable Class at Highland Park United Methodist Church.
She lived in Richardson from 1974 until her death.
Survivors are cousins S. Thomas Adler, Oklahoma City, and Donald A. Adler, Montgomery, TX. A brother, Charles P. Adler, died in Dallas in 1994.
Her cousins are very grateful to her neighbors Richard and Helen Reimer, her caregivers from Senior Helpers and Three Oaks Hospice, for their loving friendship and care for their Cousin Dot.
A graveside service for Dorothy will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX, 75225.
