Mr. Douglas Eugene Cloman, Jr., known to his family and friends as "Duna", was born on July 17,1950, to the late Douglas E. Cloman, Sr. and Mrs. Emma M. Davis Cloman. He was the eldest of four to this union; he was a believer and came to Christ at an early age. Douglas was born and educated in San Antonio, Texas and completed his high school education at Phyllis Wheatley High School. After high school he received an athletic scholarship and attended Arkansas AM&N in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. After obtaining his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, he attended and began coaching at Prairie View A&M University; there, he received his Master of Education degree and a certification in Administration. Douglas believed in living a life reflective of a man among men who knows Christ rather than attending and pretending in a church.
Mr. Cloman began teaching and coaching at the middle and high school levels in the San Antonio ISD. After relocating to the Dallas area, he taught drafting and coached at James Madison High School from 1974 until 1989. Douglas then joined the Dallas ISD administrative staff as Vice Principal of Seagoville Middle School, then T.W. Browne Middle School and finished his tenure of administration as one of the Vice Principals of Justin F. Kimball High School. After 34 years of dedicated service towards educating children, Mr. Cloman retired from the Dallas Independent School District. During his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brothers; he kept his mind active by solving cross word puzzles daily. After retirement, Douglas worked part-time in security for the American Airlines Center. His affiliations included Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE); Dallas Regional National Alliance of Black School Educators (DrNABSE); Texas High School Coaches Association and the Dallas Coaches Association.
He was united in holy matrimony to Rita Lincoln on June 17, 1989, and they enjoyed each other with love and laughter for 30 years.
Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Douglas E. Cloman, Sr. and his nephew, Cameron Shaw. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Rita; his mother, Emma Marie Cloman; brothers Donald F. Cloman, Sr. and Derick Cloman (Diana); his sister, Octavia Shaw Brown; his nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
