Douglas O'Neal Durham Jr.

A graveside service will be held Friday, March 8, 2019 at 12:00 PM at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas. Neal will be buried next to his wife, Sheree S. Durham who passed away in 2009.

Neal was born in Bossier City, LA, February 20, 1969, graduated from Captain Shreve H. S. and from LA Tech University with a B. S. degree and received a certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist from the VA Medical Center in Shreveport. He was employed by Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, as the senior Nuclear Tech; Hitachi Medical systems/SMV America Nuclear; Spine Consultants Inc.; Depuy Synthes Spine (J&J).

Other family preceding Neal in death are his maternal grandparents, Glenn and Nell Ellis; his paternal grandparents, J. Murray & Melba Durham; aunt Martha D. Barnwell; uncle Glenn A. Ellis Jr.; step brother Micah Newstadt.

Left to grieve for Neal are his parents, Mollie and Mitchel Newstadt and Douglas and Angie Durham; his sister and her husband, McLaurin D. and Wayne Eikner; his stepbrother and his wife, Mitch and Sandra Newstadt; Sheree’s parents, Wayne and Joan Starkweather; his uncle, Scott S. Ellis; Neal’s cousins, Leigh McLeod, Ann Harlow, Mimi N. Trevino and Kate Ellis; nieces, Sunshine Newstadt, Emma Starkweather and nephew, Whit Starkweather.

Neal had many friends with his Kappa Sigma Fraternity, work, his hunting, fishing and vacationing buddies. He loved trying new things such as sky diving, racing around a track and deep sea fishing. He loved his dogs and the New Orleans Saints and everything with “Tony’s" on it. His friends have been caring and attentive these past several years and a special thanks to Mike Taylor, who has been so much help to us. We appreciate Fatima Walls, too, who cared for Neal and for Sheree for a long time. We will miss Neal’s sweet and infectious smile and fun-loving spirit.
