Sami Fahim Mossaad Hanna, 95, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning on May 8, 2026.
Born in Khartoum, Sudan, while his father was working abroad, Sami was raised in Cairo, Egypt. The youngest of eight brothers and one sister, he knew from an early age that he wanted to be a physician. He graduated from Cairo University Medical School and was conscripted into the Egyptian army for mandatory service the following day, serving as a medic in Mersa Matruh and at outposts in the Sinai Desert.
After completing his military service, Sami pursued his medical residency in England, specializing in cardiology and pulmonology and earning memberships in both the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons. After returning to the Middle East to work in Saudi Arabia, he met his future wife, Elizabeth Anastasia (“Stasia”).
In 1974, Sami and his new bride moved to Dallas to do a fellowship in cardiology and pulmonology. Devoted to his patients and his profession, Sami continued practicing and teaching medicine until the age of 88.
Sami is survived by his wife of 52 years, Stasia; his daughter, Sarah; his son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Christine; and his grandchildren, Owen and Jane.
A visitation will be held from 6:30pm-8:30pm with the rosary prayed at 7:00pm at Sparkman Hillcrest, 7405 W Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225, on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
His funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Church, 8017 Preston Rd, Dallas, TX 75225, at 10:00am on Friday, May 15, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
