Ed was born in Dallas, Texas on June 29, 1950, to Raymond and Mary Burton. He graduated from W.W. Samuell High School and attended East Texas State University.
He is preceded in death by father Raymond Burton, mother Mary Burton, nephew Robert Holliday Jr..
Ed is survived by partner Ernestina Mendoza, daughter Jennifer Burton, son and daughter-in-law Matthew and Veronica Burton, son Daniel Burton, sister Linda Doherty, grandkids: Olivia (Sweetie), Aubrey, Jaxon, and other family and friends.
Ed’s professional life started at CST Co. in Dallas when he was hired as a part time mail clerk at the age of 14. He would transfer to the Houston office in the mid ‘70s as an Outside Salesman seeking more opportunity. He also worked at G.E. Supply for a number of years while in Houston but would return to CST and run their Los Angeles office and ultimately full circle back to Dallas where his final and proudest position was as President of CST Worldwide. He made many long-standing friendships in the commercial collections industry and cared greatly for the CST employees.
He had a passion for golf, especially when playing with his two sons. He cherished traveling, creating wonderful memories on beach vacations with Ernie. He also found joy in playing poker with his longtime friends, along with card games and Stratego with Jennifer (who he let win 1 game). He was an avid movie and history enthusiast. Took great pride in driving his Jaguar and Corvettes. A devoted sports fan, he loved attending Dallas Cowboys, Stars, and Mavericks games and rooting for the Texas Longhorns with sister Linda. His greatest joy over the past seven years came from spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
