She was born and raised in Mesquite, TX and graduated from Mesquite High School in 1941. Edythe had been a member of NorthPark Presbyterian Church in Dallas since the 1960s. She enjoyed giving back by helping prepare the church newsletter for mailing and sewing gifts for hospital patients. In her free time Edythe enjoyed reading, putting together jigsaw puzzles, listening to country and gospel music. After her loving husband retired she enjoyed RVing with him.
Edythe is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Kenneth E. Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her brother Delmo Cole and sisters Onita Daugherty Smitherman, Melba Kennedy and Wanda Moon.
She is survived by her children, Tom Thompson and wife Trish of Mesquite, Eileen Thompson of Garland, David Thompson and wife Ann of Plano, Paul Thompson and wife Jeanie of Spring; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
