Elizabeth Ward passed away on April 22, 2026. A graduate of Skyline High School in Dallas, Elizabeth pursued her passion for language at the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a degree in English and a teaching certificate. She began her professional life as a middle school teacher in the Garland School District before pivoting to the legal field. Her career saw her work as a paralegal in Dallas, Houston, and Galveston, eventually leading her back to the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor. Elizabeth’s legal career took her to Chicago to practice at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, but her heart eventually drew her back home to Texas.
In 1995, Elizabeth returned to Dallas to embark on a chapter defined by compassion and creativity. She dedicated herself to the care of her mother and found fulfillment in her lifelong love of writing. A true aficionado of the arts, Elizabeth was often found immersed in a book, enjoying a play by Andrew Lloyd Weber, or appreciating a great film. Her greatest joy was found in her role as a devoted aunt and she took every opportunity to spoil her nephew, Michael, and her nieces, Teresa, Abigail, and Emily.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Wanda Ward and Richard Ward Sr., and her brother, Richard Ward Jr. She is survived by her brother, Thomas Ward, who, along with her extended family and friends, will miss her sharp wit, her kind spirit, and her unwavering dedication to those she loved.
