

Obituary – Elnora Mata – age 91 Elnora Mata went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 24, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer. Elnora was born on March 6, 1924 to Dionisia Hortencia Montoya and Everardo Lee Ortega in Rockdale, Texas. Elnora married Ambrosio Mata in 1940 and together had 13 children, 8 boys and 5 girls. Elnora was a home maker and enjoyed raising her children. She is preceded in death by husband Ambrosio, daughter Lois Ortiz, and son Charles Steven. Also 1 sister Ray O. Aldama and 3 brothers Thomas, John, and Rudy Ortega. Elnora is survived by 7 sons, Moses, Joe, Ambrosio Jr, Louis Lee, Willie Rudy, Thomas, Ricky Victor, and 4 daughters, Lonita Munoz, Margret Burns, Raquel Pacheco, and Becky Rios. Elnora is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren. Honorable Mention; During her lifetime, Elnora developed a lasting relationship with her son-in-laws Ernesto Munoz, Enedino Ortiz, and Carlos Pacheco. Her daughter-in-laws Sylvia, Mary and Kim Mata. These in-laws never interfered while their wives tended to Mrs. Mata. Each willingly offered their home when Elnora became a widow and later when she was unable to care for herself. Not to be left out for honorable mention, daughter-in-law Sylvia Mata. The men had their own struggles such as Enedino Ortiz losing his wife Lois in August 2010 plus his own health issues. Carlos Pacheco diagnosed with diabetes, while wife Rachel suffering with kidney decease and knee problems. The Mata family wish to express a sincere appreciation to Tommy Mata and Lonita Munoz for tending to mom all hours of the day and night. And in the final weeks Margret Burns, Becky Rios, Rachel Pacheco, and Sylvia Mata and grandchildren were there to relieve Tommy and Lonita when they became weary. It was a beautiful effort by a large very close family to make Elnora as comfortable as possible. This is the way Elnora would have done it. Elnora sacrificed much for her children and in the end, the children and their spouses returned that sacrifice to a wonderful and gracious human being. She will be missed.
