Emmie Lee Shelby Williams “Memmie” was born on the coldest July 2nd ever recorded in TX, 1924. She went home to be with her Lord March 29, 2020, at the age of 95. She grew up in the rural area around Athens and Eustace in East Texas, as did her loving husband Harlon. They lived many years in Dallas. Both accepted Christ as their Savior under the preaching of Rev. C.C. Phillips and were baptized together while she was expecting a child (Deborah). She and Harlon were devoted to one another and they shared an enduring love.
Emmie was faithful to her Lord Jesus Christ and held her Bible close to her heart. She was a devoted wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Great-Great-Grandmother. Emmie loved her family with all her heart.
Emmie is survived by her daughter Deborah Sue Arnold, son Wilson (Gwen) Williams; grandchildren Kenny Arnold, Amy Williams, Aaron (Cami) Williams and Diana (Richard) Morrow; great-grandchildren Blake (Meredith) Arnold, Alaina Williams, Josiah Williams, Lacy Sanders, Tiffany Morrow, Nicole Morrow; great-great-grandchildren Hunter Arnold, Parker, Ryan Jr., and Riker Sanders; several nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. She was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church of White Rock for 70 years.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Harlon and their first child Lynda, her Mother Melvina Huddleston Shelby, her father William Earl Shelby, 5 sisters, and 4 brothers.
Due to the “shelter in place” restriction due to COVID-19, the family has planned a private family graveside service at Payne Springs Cemetery in Payne Springs, TX with Brother Donny Sadler officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be made to her church, Bethel Baptist Church at 9314 Ferguson Rd., Dallas, TX 75228.
