Eric David Christiansen passed away unexpectedly June 30, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. The youngest son of Thomas and Ruth Christiansen, Eric was born on April 9, 1967 in Camden, New Jersey. After spending his first year in Camden, the family moved to Dallas where Eric grew up and graduated from Bryan Adams High School.
Eric served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division during Operation Just Cause where he participated in one of the only combat jumps by US paratroopers since World War II. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield and saw combat in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. After he completed active duty, Eric served in the Army Reserve with the Special Forces. He was immensely patriotic and honored to be a military veteran. After his military service, Eric completed his college education and began a long and successful career in the technology and recruiting industry.
With a strong love for his family, nothing pleased Eric more than a family get together where he could be Uncle Eric to his numerous nieces and nephews. As the baby of the family, he was cherished and cared for by his six older siblings who were often amazed at the things Eric could get away with that they never could. Eric was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed a good Dallas Cowboys football game.
A cherished friend to many, Eric will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched. Eric was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Tri, his loving siblings Mary Sue (Bob) Gaston, Cathleen (Jerry) Shipley, Thomas Jens Christiansen Jr. (Elise May), Julia (Bill) Hebding, Sarah (Scott) Elkins, Ellen (Jerry) Franks, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials honoring Eric may be made to the Brotherhood for the Fallen-Dallas at http://brotherhooddallastx.org, Puppies Behind Bars at www.puppiesbehindbars.com, or the charity of your choice.
