Today we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Erlinda G. Gonzalez, a woman whose strength, love, and dedication shaped generations and whose memory will live on forever in our hearts.
Erlinda was born on March 13, 1953, in Brownfield, Texas, to her loving parents, Ramon and Pauline Gonzalez. From a very young age, she learned the value of hard work, family, and perseverance. By the age of ten, Erlinda was already working alongside her parents in the fields—an early reflection of the resilience and work ethic that would define her life.
She shared 45 loving years with her lifelong companion and husband, Reynaldo C. Gonzalez. Their marriage, united in July of 1975 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Dallas, Texas, was built on faith, devotion, and unconditional love. Today, we find comfort knowing Erlinda is reunited with Reynaldo, together again in the presence of the Lord.
Erlinda leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her five children:
Her son Victor Gonzalez and wife Yolanda, and their children Victor Jr., Monica Ann, and Kristie Ann.
Her son Reynaldo G. Gonzalez and wife Maribel, and their children Marissa, Angel, and Brianna.
Her daughter Linda Vazquez and husband Manuel.
Her daughter Dolores Robledo and husband Francisco, and their children Isabel and Francisco Ramon.
Her daughter Louisa G. Perez and husband Robinson, and their baby.
Erlinda is also the proud grandmother of Francisco and Celina, children of her late daughter Mary Ellen, who is now in the loving presence of the Lord. Erlinda carried Mary Ellen in her heart every day and found deep joy and purpose in loving and supporting her grandchildren.
Erlinda was a hardworking woman throughout her life. She retired after 25 years of service with the City of Dallas at the Dallas Zoo, where she was known for her dedication and reliability. Her work ethic was something she modeled daily and passed down to her family.
Beyond her strength and responsibility, Erlinda had a joyful spirit. She loved going to Buc-ee’s, proudly owning every seasonal shirt—a simple pleasure that brought her happiness and always made those around her smile.
Above all, Erlinda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. To many, she was also a second mom—someone who nurtured, protected, and loved without limits. Her kindness, sacrifice, and steady presence will never be forgotten.
Though we mourn her passing, we are deeply grateful for the life she lived and the love she gave so freely. Today we celebrate her journey and the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of faith, family, and unwavering love.
Rest in peace, Erlinda G. Gonzalez. You will always be loved, always remembered, and forever missed.
