

Essie Elizabeth Stevenson, age 98, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026. She was born on May 24, 1927, and lived a long, faithful, and love-filled life devoted to her family, her faith, and her community.
Essie was by preceded in death by her beloved husband, J.W. Stevenson, and her son, Timothy Stevenson. She is survived by her brother, Roy Gene Owen, and her sister, Connie “Winnie” Smegner. She leaves behind her son, Jerry Stevenson and his wife Carol Stevenson.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jerry’s children, Robby Stevenson and his wife Mistelle; Deanna Duckworth; Michael Stevenson; and Matthew Stevenson. She is also survived by Timothy’s children: Traci Holcomb and her husband Jeff; Marci Landers and her husband David; Brittany Keith and her husband Kaleb; Lisa Peterson and her husband John; Kristi Bishop and Rusty McEwin.
Essie’s legacy continues through her many great-grandchildren: Caden Stevenson; Chase Stevenson and his wife Jenna; Cayleigh Stevenson; Cambree Stevenson; Trinity Kirby; Colby Myers and his wife Morgan; Chelsea Crow; Ava Holcomb; Ariana Holcomb; Anora Holcomb; Joshua White; Jacob White and his wife Saige; Kaleb Henderson; Tristan Ellison; Presley Keith; Josie Keith; Lucy Keith; Cristian Peterson; Cameron Peterson; Zachary Bishop; Ryan Bishop, Russell McEwin, Richard McEwin and Woodrow McEwin. She was further blessed with great-great-grandchildren: Casyn Myers; Layton Myers; Sayler Myers; Luka Myers; and Landon Crow.
Essie was a woman of tremendous faith who loved her Lord and Savior deeply. She was the devoted wife of both a preacher and a police officer, her one true love, whom she is now joyfully reunited with in Heaven, along with her son Timothy. Her life was a reflection of grace, strength, and unwavering belief.
She found joy in gardening, reading her Bible daily, and spending precious time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. A lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, she rarely missed cheering on her favorite teams.
Essie was a hardworking and dedicated bookkeeper who remained employed well into her 90s, demonstrating her strong work ethic and independence. She also had a cherished doll collection that brought her much happiness over the years.
Her family takes pride in a legacy of service, including her son Jerry, a Vietnam War Army veteran, and her grandson Robby, a Persian Gulf Navy veteran who currently serves as a police officer. Her granddaughter Traci, who served in the Air Force and her great grandson Colby who also served in the Army. Essie will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her loving heart, and the deep devotion she had for her family. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be dearly
missed by all who knew and loved her.
