Ethella Jacqueline McMinn

Ethella J. McMinn Obituary Ethella J. Johnson McMinn, age 93, went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2016, at Grandview Nursing Home in Grandview, Texas. Ethella was born on January 11, 1923 in Brownsboro to John R. and Eula Mae Johnson, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Gladewater High School in 1941. After graduation she went to work for the phone company and continued to work for them until she retired after 42 years of service. In 1947 she married Alvin Harliss McMinn. They spent 60 years together enjoying their family, making friends, and attending church together. Moomaw or Big Sis as she was known to her family was known for her cooking and her cleaning. If you wanted your house clean, just invite her to visit you, when she left, your house would be spotless. Ethella was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Harliss McMinn; her daughters Pamela Beth McMinn and Ginger Christensen; her brothers Billy R. Johnson and John H. Johnson; and her sisters Bebe Walker and Peggy Honeycutt. Ethella is survived by her son Alvin S. McMinn and wife Donna of Midlothian. She is also survived by her brother Jim Johnson of Frankston; five grandchildren, Jonathan McMinn and wife Lauren of Dallas, Megan Ross and husband Deke of Midlothian, Lindsey McMinn and fiancée Brandon Kondikoff of Dallas, David Christensen of Dallas, and Jaclyn Disher and husband Blake of San Antonio; and two great grandchildren, Meadow Ross of Midlothian and Jackson Disher of San Antonio. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016, at Laurel Land Funeral Home. The service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016, in the chapel at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Laurel Land Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
