Frances Carol Michaelson Okon was born on September 2, 1949 and died at home surrounded by her family on March 19, 2013. Frances passed away after a brief but difficult battle with cancer. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She treasured her religion and her family, especially her five grandchildren.
Frances is survived by her husband of 42 years, Steve; her daughter, Martis Herman and husband, Chad; and her son, Louis Okon and wife, Melanie. She is also survived by grandchildren Ted and Jacqueline Herman and Hannah, Toni, and Brian Okon; sister, Barbara Sanger and husband, Gene; sisters-in-law, Susan Chazanow (husband Kenny), Patricia Gold (husband Matt); brother-in-law, Howard Okon; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Matt Gold, Kenny Chazanow, Howard Okon, Gene Sanger, Gil Friedlander and Irv Statman. Honorary pallbearers will be Debbie Postel, Lynn Friedlander, Bonnie Grossfeld, Elaine Stillman, Tina Wasserman and Barbara Anderson.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Rd., Dallas, TX 75225. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
