He was one of six children born to Encarnacion Zarate and Ruby Reyes Zarate. Frank grew up in the neighborhood known to many as “City Park”. As a youth, he spent a lot of time at the neighborhood park swimming and playing baseball. On Saturdays, he could often be found at the local Ervay Theater watching the latest movies with his brothers, sisters and friends.
Frank began his working years as a bicycle delivery person in Downtown Dallas. Later, he accepted a position as a driver for Emery Worldwide, an air freight company, where he would eventually retire after 35 years of dedicated service.
After his retirement, Frank enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and friends and spoiling his grandchildren. He enjoyed going out to eat and a good happy hour. He hosted countless holidays and backyard cookouts where he was the grill master. He was always joking around and making everyone laugh with the unfiltered humor that he was known for.
Frank always opened his heart and his home to anyone that was in need. He was a consistent father figure to many, whether it was family or friends. If he is to be remembered for anything, it should be for his constant humor, his loving heart and his dedication to his family.
Frank is survived by his wife Nicka, to whom he was married for over 60 years. He is also survived by his four children: Richard Castillo and wife Carolyn, Frank Zarate Jr. and wife Marie, David Zarate and Priscilla Zarate. He is preceded in death by his sister Anita Revilla and brother Armando Zarate, and is survived by his brother Robert Zarate and sisters Ruby Alamazan and Ofelia Herrera, his six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Frank will forever be in our hearts.
Rest in Peace
