

Fred graduated from Samuell High School in 1962, where he played doubles on the tennis team. He later attended Southern Methodist University and graduated from Texas A&M Commerce (formerly East Texas State University) with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. On January 28, 1966, he married his high school sweetheart, Judith Ann Wallace.
Fred had a dedicated career at Union Bankers Insurance Company. In 1983, he became a fellow in the Life Management Institute with a specialization in Personnel Administration. He furthered his expertise by earning the designation of Health Insurance Associate in 1990 after completing the Insurance Educational Program. Committed to the professional growth of others, Fred taught both courses on-site at Union Bankers for many years, helping employees advance their careers in health insurance. He retired after 28 years when the company was sold, and the insurance business moved to Florida.
Fred was a Christian and baptized as a young boy. Later he became an elder at Eastminster Presbyterian Church for many years. For recreation, he enjoyed fishing for wide mouth bass, playing golf and had a passion for cars. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Judi; his children, Jason Dean and Devri McBride (Claude); his siblings, Jerry Dean (Gina) and Martha Hernandez (Dr. Ernest Hernandez); his grandchildren, Kaitlin Snyder (Nate), Mallory McBride, Parker Dean, and Alex Dean; and his great-grandchildren, Haven and Evelyn Snyder. He is also survived by many cherished family members and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Jessie Mae Dean.
