

George B McGee Jr “Mac”, of Garland, TX, passed away on Saturday September 17, 2016 at the age of 80. He was born on November 15, 1935 in Dallas, TX. After high school he served a tour in the US Navy. In 1962, Mac married Connie Kohler, and together they had three children, Mark, Scott and Bran. Mac worked as a Fireman/Paramedic at the Garland Fire Department for 33 years and dedicated himself to helping others. Always working second jobs and keeping busy, he became a jack of all trades working part time in construction, plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning, security and driving a big rig to earn money for the family. At the age of 35 while working as a fire fighter he earned his Bachelor of Science, a Master of Business Administration and was certified as one of the Garland Fire Departments first EMT’s all within a 4-year period. He served as a member of the Masons, the Scottish Rite and the Shriners. He was a long time member of St Philip’s United Methodist Church with his family. A unique soul, Mac was very funny, and enjoyed playing practical jokes with his fellow firefighters and teasing his family. He will be greatly missed. Mac is survived by his wife, his sons, his sister Martha Coy, grandchildren James, Thomas and Jonathan McGee, his niece Susan McGee and host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, younger brother Tom McGee. . Visitation will be held Friday, September 23 at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, at 2pm in the Northwest Highway Chapel at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made in Mac’s name to your favorite service organization or to the Salvation Army.
