Gerardo Luna, age 70, passed away on March 31, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on February 23, 1956, in Ciudad Reynosa, Tamaulipas, to Reyes Z. Luna and Francisca Garcia. Gerardo was raised in Ciuad Reynosa and attended the Instituto de Tecnología in Nuevo Laredo in 1972.
He was a hardworking man who was never afraid to take on new
challenges. Over the years, he held many roles, including cook, chef, landscaper, security guard, and even ironing clothes for a clothing manufacturing company. He was also a skilled handyman, restaurateur, and investor. Throughout his life, he owned and operated restaurants, a transportation company, and invested in real estate. He was always seeking new opportunities and ways to grow.
In 1973, Gerardo married Teresa De Jesus Pacheco Mendez, and together they raised four children: Roscio Partidas, Gerardo Luna Jr., Esmeralda Duran, and Tonislado Luna. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, uncle, and a friend to many.
Gerardo enjoyed taking spontaneous road trips, collecting antiques and cars—especially Corvettes—and trying his luck at the casino, which many joked had become his second home.
He will be remembered by his family as a joyful jokester who loved making others laugh and performing magic tricks to the grandchildren. He was a kindhearted man who was always
willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed meeting new people and had a remarkable ability to remember faces and names, even from his early childhood. He also loved to spread his life experiences to his children and grandchildren.
Gerardo was preceded in death by his parents, Reyes Luna and Francisca G. Luna; his grandson, Anthony Cedillo Jr.; and his son-in-law, Eliezer Partidas. He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Luna; his children, Roscio Partidas, Gerardo Luna Jr., Esmeralda Duran, and Tonislado Luna; 17 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren, son-in-law, Jimmy E. Duran, and daughters-in-laws, Adriana D. Luna and Jessica A. Zaragoza.
His family is comforted in the assurance that Gerardo placed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and now rests in God’s eternal peace.
