Geronimo "Jerome" Gonzalez Garcia

Jerome was born in Ballinger, Texas on January 17, 1950 to Jesus and Paula Garcia. He attended schools in Ballinger and graduated Ballinger High School in May 1969. Jerome moved to Irving in June 1969 and continued his education on to receive a degree from the University of North Texas in psychology.

Jerome worked as a juvenile probation officer with Dallas County for 21 years. He also worked as counselor with Texas Workforce for 6 years. He enjoyed spending time with his friends watching the Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks. But Jerome especially enjoyed spending time with his nephews and nieces especially his great-niece, Marisol Garcia. Jerome and Marisol shared a deep bond and encouraged each other about life and for Marisol to continue her education.Jerome had a dry sense of humor but Marisol understood and appreciated him dearly. Jerome was involved in volunteer work with Catholic Charities through the Diocese of Dallas but had to stop in 2020 to help take care of his elderly parent.

Jerome was a lifelong Catholic and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dallas. He served as an Altar Boy during his younger years at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ballinger, Texas. In his own way, Jerome had a deep and profound love for Our Lord and Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Jerome is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Paula Garcia; his brother, Jose Alejandro Garcia; his sister, Esmeralda Garcia and many other family members.

Jerome is survived by his sister, Aurora; brother, Jesse Garcia, Jr. and his wife Mary Selvera Garcia; nephews; Joseph Guzman and his wife Katrina and their children Ciana and Joseph Guzman, Jr. and Jesse Garcia III and his son Jesse Garcia IV; niece, Cecilia Selvera Garcia and her children, Marisol Alejandra Garcia and her husband Eric Cuajunco and their daughter, Rosa Alejandra; and Jayson Alardin.

Our brother, uncle, great-uncle, great-great-uncle, cousin and friend is gone but will never be forgotten because Geronimo "Jerome" Gonzalez Garcia was loved and appreciated by many.

A visitation for Jerome will be held Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, Texas 75220. A Mass of Christian burial will occur Friday, April 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Hill Main Mausoleum North Chapel. An interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
