Grandmother to Steven (Carolyn) Shakno of Shaker Heights, OH and Deborah (Larry) Coven of Highland Park, IL, Michael (Allissa) Leightman of Houston, Rebecca (Mason) Leightman-Dykstra of Bergen, Norway. Great grandmother to 7 grandchildren.Born in Germany, Trudy and Rudy settled in Dallas in 1939. Member of Temple Emanuel for 70 years. Board member of Sheppard Center/Shared Ministries and member of Temple Leisure Club. In 1939 opened Brother and Sister Children’s store on Oak Lawn; department supervisor at Sanger Harris for 25 years. Collaborated with Texas A&M professors to publish “Sisters in Sorrow” a definitive account of the role of many brave women in the camps of the Holocaust with a chapter about her late sister and mother who survived the camps.
