A much-loved husband, father, son and brother, Greg Dittmar, 53, passed away on October 20, 2014. He had bravely confronted and fought cancer. He graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1979 and Texas State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1983. Greg loved sports. For those who knew him well, he was an avid San Antonio Spurs, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars and Dallas Cowboys fan. His love of football was evident by his fantasy football league which he had been a part of for over 10 years. He was the ultimate Volleyball and Softball coach, leading his boys/co-ed volleyball teams to 5 Dallas Parochial League championships and his girls softball team to 2 Dallas Parochial League championship appearances. His volunteer efforts were far reached, serving on boards at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School and Ursuline Academy. Greg loved to fish with his son, Evan, and longtime fishing buddy, Richard. He also enjoyed maintaining his 1964 Chevrolet C-10 pickup, nicknamed “Old Blue.” BBQ should have been Greg’s middle name, as he strived to eat the best BBQ from all parts of the USA and perfect his own smoked meats. Greg opened Dittmar Design in 1995, where he provided clean, award winning graphic design for clients all over the country for nearly 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Genevieve; daughters Maddie and Audrey and son Evan; mother Harriet Crenwelge of Fredericksburg; sister Heidi Crenwelge and husband Nathan of Fredericksburg; brother Jeff Dittmar and wife Lori of Fredericksburg; nephews Jason, Wade, and Bradley; nieces Elizabeth, Rachel, Lauren and Amy. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred Dittmar, and step-father Clayton Crenwelge. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Eric Nadler, M.D., M.P.P., Yvonne Atkins, NP-C., and the wonderful staff at Texas Oncology for their dedicated and passionate care. A memorial mass is planned for Friday, October 24 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at 10:30am. Reception immediately following in St. Anne’s Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greg Dittmar Memorial Fund, 3704 Abrams Rd, Dallas, TX 75214.
