It’s with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Halim A. Jabbour, Sr on May 24, 2021 at 1:00 AM. After years of battling heart failure, his huge heart simply couldn’t carry on anymore at the tender age of 83 years old.
He was born on January 18, 1938 in a small northern Lebanese village, Kfarhazir, a place that held very special meaning in his heart. He grew up in a house with a large family, including a caring aunt. His farming dad taught him the meaning of hard work and his doting mother encouraged his incessant curiosity and made sure he received an education. She also instilled an unconditional love in him and his 8 siblings that continues throughout their combined legacy today.
With a fervent drive to give his family a meaningful life, he and his wife, Laurice “Lola” Jabbour took their 2 boys from Houston, TX to Dhahran Saudi Arabia in 1979. He held many positions for ARAMCO, the Arab American Oil Company and in 1981, he welcomed his little princess, Lara, into the world. Facing the usual struggles in life with dignity, he partnered with his wife and soulmate, who he respected and loved very much, to provide for his family.
After retiring in 1996, he and Lola moved to Dallas, TX where he was able to get the best medical care possible. While in the US, he fostered a love for his vegetable garden, whether it bore fruit or not, developed a close-knit community of friends, and took true pride in his family – from encouraging his children to do what’s best for them to being a cornerstone for his siblings, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He also loved his homeland, Lebanon – which he often visited – and wished for all mankind to live in peace and with dignity.
Halim is survived by Lola; his children, Salim, Halim Jr, and Lara; their spouses Libby, Regan, and Justin; his grandchildren, Ian and Matthew; 5 of his 9 siblings, Salam, Widad, Huda, Yacoub, and Wadih; and a flock of nieces and nephews. This devoted husband, inspiring father, doting grandfather, compassionate brother, and loving uncle is remembered for his big heart, gentle soul, and overall awesomeness as a human being.
He will be greatly missed.
A funeral service for Halim will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX, 75225. To watch via livestream, follow this link: https://youtu.be/zMsOH59ydNE
