

Henry Kirk Childress, 31, passed away peacefully on June 17 at his home in Ft. Worth surrounded by the love of his family and friends, following a courageous battle with colon cancer. Kirk is survived by his wife Nikki Childress of Ft. Worth, his step-daughter Adriana, his mother Karen Dealy and step-father David Dealy of Dallas, his grandmother Evelyn Wade of Austin, his sister Katherine Koontz of Alpine, Wyoming, step-sister Dianna Moss of Orlando, and step-brother Jay Dealy of Omaha, along with his two loving Aunts, many loving cousins, two nieces and one nephew.
Kirk was a 2000 graduate of Lake Highlands High School and attended Skidmore College in New York where he majored in philosophy. He remained in upstate New York where he discovered his passion for food and helped to popularize the locavare movement in the Capital region of New York. At 26, he was the owner of his own successful business procuring the freshest of ingredients from local farms to the most discerning restaurants in the area, as well as student cafes at Union and Schenectady colleges.
Kirk will be remembered for his passion, humor, honesty, fearlessness, intellect, love and generosity with which he lived every day of his life, and we will forever be better for having known him.
Family and friends will gather to share memories at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held Friday June 21, 2:00 p.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel.
