Howard Mark Fincannon, 77, passed away on March 15, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. Born on September 25, 1947, in Beaumont, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, William Fincannon; his mother, Mable Battle Fincannon; and his brother, William J. Fincannon.
Mark pursued his education at Texas Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in 1971 and was recognized on the Dean’s List for his academic achievements. Mark played varsity football and was a proud member of the Letterman’s Association. He also formed lasting friendships as a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. After college, Mark went on to have a career in sales working in the concrete business in Dallas.
Mark found joy in staying active. In his younger years, he was an avid runner, keeping a running journal and participating in many marathons. Later in life, he continued this by taking walks and still keeping a log. He enjoyed being outdoors and near the water. He especially cherished time he spent along the Gulf of Mexico in both Port Bolivar and Port Aransas.
Mark liked to share stories from his youth with his children. He often recounted visits to Uncle Mood’s farm in Silsbee and Uncle Tal in Nacogdoches—memories that painted vivid pictures of life in East Texas. He often reminisced about duck hunting trips and shared stories of growing up alongside his nephews Billy and Pat.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Ashley Fincannon, Heather Fincannon, Blake Fincannon, and Timothy Fincannon; as well as his granddaughter Scarlett Fincannon.
