

Jack Walton Graham was born August 25th 1924 in Woodville, Oklahoma. He passed away peacefully at his home in Denison, Texas on November 22, 2015 at age 91. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Jo (Johnson) Graham, preceding her death married Billy Lou (Jones) Graham, mother Josephine (Brown) Graham, father Richard Graham, sisters; Edith Ford, Betty Stephens, Willie Lee Frye, brothers; John and Robert Graham and step-son George Jones. He is survived by his daughter Jean Ellen Currie, step- daughter Jennifer Jones, 3 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many cherished nieces and nephews. Jack was a World War II veteran in the United States Marine Corps based at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California serving as Private First Class in Company “B”, 2nd Aviation Engineer Battalion. He was a brave marine that was eager to enlist in the military at the young age of 17. Jack served in the war from 1942-1945 on Guadalcanal, Guam and Iwo Jima. He drove a TD8 Dozer and helped build the air strip at Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. At the “Battle of Iwo Jima” he witnessed Marines raise the American flag on Mt. Suribachi. After honorary discharge from the Marine Corps, Jack married his sweetheart Betty Jo and moved to Dallas where he pursued a 35 year career with Merchants Fast Motor Freight earning many awards for exemplary safe driving. After retiring from Merchants, he drove the special needs bus for Denison Independent School district for 10 years, the children held a special place in his heart. Jack was a humble, kind and gentle man who loved his friends and family dearly. He had an amazing work ethic and took pride in his independence, living on his own until he was 90 years old. He enjoyed playing the slots at Choctaw and eating at his favorite local diner “Nicks”. He will be greatly missed by all and we know he is rejoicing with our Lord in Heaven.
