Jacquelyn “Jackie” Smart Andrews passed away at the age of 91 on March 22, 2026. She left behind many memories, experiences, and words of wisdom to remember her by. She was the kind of person you wanted to be around as much as possible. She always wanted the best for others, no matter what they were going through. Jackie genuinely loved people and helping others in her community whenever she could. Above all, she loved the Lord with all her heart and wanted others to share in that same love.
Jackie was born in Houston, Texas, on October 29, 1934, to Alvin and Lillian Smart. The middle child, she loved her older sister, Doris, and younger brother, Ron, very much. The family later moved to Dallas, which became her lifelong home. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1952, and spoke highly of her time there. She often attended events supporting the school, including many reunions. She attended the University of Houston and graduated with a business degree in 1956. After returning to Dallas, she worked for Hunt Oil Company, where she was a dedicated employee for over 40 years. Through hard work and commitment, she eventually rose to the position of Head Treasurer. Her role often took her around the globe to explore new business opportunities for the company.
Jackie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She deeply loved her church, East Dallas Christian Church, and volunteered in various programs and events there. She received the Fellowship of the Towel, awarded by the church in recognition of her dedication to service and her commitment to helping others in the East Dallas community. She also enjoyed traveling, both within the United States and abroad. She loved gardening and would spend hours making sure everything was just the way she wanted it. Believe it or not, she was also a green belt in karate.
Her family and friends will always remember her as a Christian woman who exemplified love. She was a warm, friendly, and caring person who consistently put others before herself. She had a way of brightening your day with humor and a smile, offering wisdom, or simply listening when you needed someone to talk to. Jackie was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and never judged others based on their circumstances or choices.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jeanette Smart; nephew Kevin Smart and his wife, Susan, and their children, Maegan and Austin; nephew Brit Smart and his wife, Amanda, and their children, Tate, Emerson, and Berkley; niece Jan Butynes and her husband, Keith; great-nephew A.J. Parker and his wife, Jana, and their daughter, Abbie; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
While Jackie is, and will be, deeply missed by those who knew her, we take great comfort in knowing she is walking side by side with her Heavenly Father. She is home, rejoicing with Jesus and the multitudes of angels. We are saddened by our loss, but we find victory in the power of Jesus. There will never be enough words to express how much we miss her; however, we know she has heard the most important words anyone will ever hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
