

James Joseph (Jim) Savidge was born in Muskegon, Michigan on June 21, 1936 to John & Mary Kane Savidge. Early education at St. Mary’s Catholic School and Central Catholic High School in Muskegon. Received BS degree in physics from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1964. Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1959 and was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio where he met Patricia Willborn of Poteet, Texas at the Labor Day Picnic in 1960 sponsored by Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. They married on December 30, 1961 in Jourdanton, Texas and made their home in El Paso for five years prior to settling down in Dallas. Jim had a secret clearance and worked for many years as a technical writer for several companies including Dun & Bradstreet, Continental Electronics, Collins Radio, Texas Instruments and retired from Intacom Company in Dallas. In retirement, he became a licensed massage therapist and held various jobs with Half Price Books and Whole Foods. He enjoyed being an assistant Scout Master, served as President in two Toastmaster organizations and was a member of the Knights of Columbus # 799. Jim taught classes and performed at the Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie, Texas. For eight years, he portrayed the character of Tandy Alexander, the Lord High Magistrate with Patsy, his wife being Lady Lizzie Alexander. He and Patsy headed the St. Pius X Catholic Church ministry for the sick and homebound for 10 years and were Eucharistic ministers for the 11:30 mass at St. Pius. He also served the church for many years as the head of the Budget Drive. Jim died on December 11, 2014 in Dallas at the age of 78. He is survived by wife, Patsy; his children, Kathleen Yvonne Savidge, James Thomas Savidge and wife, Anne and Eileen Marie Crowe; granddaughter, Sarah Crowe; brother, Jack Savidge and seven nieces and nephews. A rosary will be recited at 10AM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, followed by a Memorial Mass and then a reception in the Parish Hall.
