For children grow up, we’ve learned to our sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby, and babies don’t keep. -Ruth Hulburt Hamilton
In memory of Jane Louise Carson Clancy, age 87, loving mother, grandmother and sister. Jane was born May 25, 1924, in Syracuse, New York, and died May 3, 2012, at home with her family in Dallas, Texas.
Jane grew up during the Depression. She married Thomas Clancy in 1943, and they lived the Air Force life while Thomas served as an Army Air Corps pilot. After suffering the loss of their first child, Jane and Thomas had eleven more children. Jane devoted most of her life to being our Mom. She was a great lady and mother. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her generosity and kindness. In Mom’s long life, she had much joy and also some difficult times, but she always kept her strong spirit. She fought a good fight. Hers was a life well lived.
Jane was preceded in death by Thomas Clancy, and by her parents David and Queenie Carson, sister Margaret Maniccia, infant son T. Clancy, daughter Margaret Clancy, son Lawrence Clancy, and son-in-law Patrick Butler.
Jane is survived by her brother William Carson, sister Beverly Valentino and brother-in-law Pete Valentino; son Thomas (Tommy) Clancy and daughter-in-law Sandi Clancy, son James Clancy and daughter-in-law Maria Clancy, daughter-in-law Linda Clancy (Mrs. Lawrence Clancy), daughter Patricia Butler, daughter Mary Davis and son-in-law Neil Davis, daughter Barbara Clancy, daughter Catherine Wilson and son-in-law Larry Wilson, daughter Jane Williams and son-in-law Ed Williams, daughter Anita Clancy, daughter Carol Clancy; 18 grandchildren: Thomas Keith Buck, Terri Crudup, Mark Butler, Maureen Krencik, Lynn Butler, Jennifer MacBlane, Neil Davis, Mike Davis, Jeff Davis, Amy Bourquin, Aaron Clancy, Dana Mattay, Karen Grimm, Michael Clancy, Andrew Wilson, Jenny Wuerz, Rachel Sammons and Kim Sammons; 14 great grandchildren and 2 on the way; many extended family and friends; and by Oliver Clancy.
We all loved her very much. She will be missed. And life goes on.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, Mom asked that you remember her by helping or giving to someone in need.
I expect to pass through this world but once; any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now…for I shall not pass this way again. -Stephen Grellet
The family will hold a private burial service.
Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
