Ms. Jerry Scott

Jerry was born September 4, 1951, in Dallas, Texas to Marilee and Harold Payne. The family remained in Dallas where she was raised. She graduated from David W. Carter High School in 1969 and went on to enter into the working industry. That was also where she met her soon-to-be husband, Preston Scott, Sr.

Preston had six children from a previous marriage—Preston Jr., Netra, Maurice, Timmy, Craig, and Fernando—who Jerry cared for and raised as her own. While their marriage wouldn’t last forever as they’d hoped, Jerry and Preston remained close until the day he departed. As a team, they raised their two children, Shannon and Matthew.

Jerry is preceded in death by her father, Harold Lloyd Payne and grandson, Timmy Scott, Jr.

She is survived by her loving children, Preston Scott, Jr., Netra Harris (Don), Maurice Scott, Timmy Scott, Sr., Craig Scott, Fernando Scott, Sr., Shannon Coney (Andre), and Matthew Scott I; her grandchildren, Jerry Calhoun, Jazmine Calhoun, Jeremiah Martin, Emerson Williams III, Victoria Scott, Fatimah Scott, Fernando Scott Jr, Andrea Coney, Matthew Scott II, and Isaiah Scott; eight great grandchildren; her mother, Marilee Payne Hughes; her brother, John Payne (Barbara) and a host of cousins and friends.
