JoAnn Mays Roth

Jo Ann Mays Roth, age 83, entered the gates of Heaven on April 5, 2017, at her home in University Park. Jodie was born October 22, 1933, in Dallas, TX; the daughter of Lester Thomas Mays and Virginia Lowry Mays.

Jodie spent her life teaching, serving her community, and spending time with her family. She could always be described as a faithful friend, provider, encourager, and comforter. Jodie graduated from Highland Park High School and the University of Texas in Austin, where she was a Tri-Delta. Jodie was a member of University Park United Methodist Church.

Jodie is preceded in death by her parents, Lester Mays and Virginia Mays, spouses John C Calhoun Jr. and Stan G. Roth, and son John “Clay” Calhoun.

Jodie is survived by her brother, L. Lowry Mays and his wife, Peggy Mays of San Antonio, TX; daughter Charlotte Calhoun Moreau and husband Gary of Heath, TX; grandchildren Travis Moreau, Spencer Moreau and wife Lindsay, Chandler Moreau and wife Nia, Lexi Moreau, Matthew Moreau, and Justin Moreau.; two nieces Kathy Johnson and Linda McCaul, two nephews Mark Mays and Randall Mays and caregiver Azmara Teclu. She also leaves behind numerous loving family members and friends.

The service will be held at the Northwest Highway Chapel at Sparkman Hillcrest at 12 pm on Monday, April 10, 2017. Entombment and reception will follow service.

Jodie suffered from Alzheimer’s for nearly ten years and is now complete with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her life and legacy will be dearly missed.
