Joe Eakin, a fifth-generation Texan, was born November 5, 1940 in Kilgore, TX to Joe Edward Eakin and Dorothy Elmore. He passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015 due to cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, LuAnn, his brother’s and sister’s in law, Dan and Cindy Eakin, Gene and Lyn Eakin, uncle, Tommy Eakin, nieces, Shelby Yllana and Arfeo, Terri Miller and Jim, nephews, Scott Layne and Vicki, Steven Eakin, Greg Hunt and great nieces and nephews Brittany Layne, Scotty Layne, Matthew Parlington, Shannon Miller, and Xavier Yllana. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lana Bess Eakin, and nephews Derrick Eakin and David Eakin.
