

John passed away peacefully on April 19, 2016, with a daughter by his side and comforted by his caretaker, Normecia (Candy) Garrett. Even though he had no children of his own, he loved and cared for his wife, Pat A. Crader’s, three daughters and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as if they were his own. They all loved and cared for him as their Poppie. They had a long and happy life together. The daughters and their families are: Carol Douglas Ingram, her daughters and grandchildren Audra Ingram Funk with Sage Wells and Cassidy Wells and Kalena Ingram Helmer with Wesley Helmer and Barrett Helmer. Daughter Jennifer Douglas, her children Tara Lea Davey with Grace Davey and Jackson Davey and Michael L. Lea with Joshua Lea, Isabella Lea and Jacob Lea. Daughter Debbie Douglas Hosea with her children Bill Hosea, Rachael Hosea Rodriguez with Penelope Rodriguez and Lauren Hosea with Hadley Hosea. Mr. Crader enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 by lying about his age so he could do his duty during WWII. He served aboard the USNTS Farragut, Ida; USS YFD 50 and the USS AFDL33 in Seattle, WA and PSC USNB in Bremerton, WA. Upon discharge he joined the Naval Reserve in Colorado Springs, CO where he became a truck driver. Later he moved to Dallas, Texas and worked for Central Freight Lines until his retirement in 1989.
John and Pat loved to Square Dance as part of the Terrell Grand Squares and they often traveled with them to perform and have a great time for 25 years. John also was an avid bowler and was in a league for many years. John and Pat loved animals and had many pets over the years especially Cherie and Cyndi. Pat always said she brought them home and he spoiled them.
