

John attended Waskom High School and served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Mamie Frances Fort in 1952, and together they built a life centered on family and raising three children.
John was an entrepreneur/businessman who demonstrated determination and independence in providing for his family through a strong work ethic and love of business and investing. John was a long-time member of East Grand Baptist Church (now Grandview Baptist Church) where he and his family supported the Church and served Our Lord.
John loved to travel around Texas and Oklahoma, driving to visit family and friends, and enjoying the countryside. In recent years he enjoyed meeting friends at Chubby’s for the seafood gumbo on Fridays!
John was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers; his beloved wife Mamie; one daughter and one grandson.
He is survived by one brother; two daughters; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation for John will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228 on April 14, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at the same location from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Interment will take place at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228, US, on April 14, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
