Born December 16, 1928 in Cambridge, MA, died February 24, 2014 after a lengthy illness. He grew up in Watertown, MA and served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in Japan with the 187th Glider Infantry Regiment. He was a graduate of Cheshire Academy and Ohio Wesleyan University where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
His entire business career was with Armstrong World Industries in Sales and Marketing; as a District Manager, Regional Manager and President of a subsidiary, Pacific World Carpet.
He was a longtime and active Parishioner at St. Rita Catholic Church. He served as an assistant to the Chaplain at St. Paul’s Hospital for over 20 years. He was also a former member of the Vocal Majority and Brookhaven Country Club.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jack and survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary “Teddy” Kelly; children, Janet Kelly, Katy Kelly Reimer (Steve), Patrick Kelly (Brandi) and daughter-in-law, Becky Robertson (Mike); grandchildren, Patrick, Jennifer, Julia, Andrew, Jana, Greg and Jake and one great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank Presbyterian Village North and Presbyterian Faith Hospice for their loving care over the past 15 months. A celebration on his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at St. Rita Catholic Church 12521 Inwood Road.
