John C. Lamar, age 85 of Mesquite, passed away on September 26, 2016. He was born on September 17, 1931 in Bloomburg, Texas, the son of Clifton Lamar and Grace Nichols Lamar. John married Rosie Lea Patrick and she survives. John worked for WFAA-TV for nearly 35 years before retiring in 1998. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, electronics, and his pets. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
John is survived by his wife Rosie Lea Patrick Foxx Lamar; son Gary Foxx; grandchildren Justin Foxx, Sr. and Kristie Gibson; great grandchildren Justin Foxx, Jr. and Colton Foxx; siblings Melba Selke, Kenneth (Carolyn) Lamar, Margie Barber, Emily Philips, Linda (Tom) Mehrlich, Roy Lee Lamar, Freddy (Olyne) Lamar, and Danny Joe (Debbi) Lamar; sister in laws Virginia Lamar and Evelyn Lamar. John was preceded in death by his parents and brothers James and Bobby Lamar.
A memorial gathering to celebrate John’s life will be Saturday, October 1 at 4PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
