

John James Mossinghoff, 74, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was a loving father, caring husband, devoted grandfather and a happy and kind soul. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
John received his degree in electrical engineering from St. Louis University in 1962. There he met the love of his life, Peggy, and they married soon after finishing college. They were married for more than 50 years and shared a life full of love and joy together. They raised four children and delighted in the lives of each of their four grandchildren. John enjoyed playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles and traveling with Peggy, and he was an active volunteer scout leader for his children for many years.
John began his career at Union Electric in St. Louis and joined IBM as a Systems Engineer in 1970. He completed his Master's degree in Computer Science in 1971 at the University of Missouri, Rolla. His career with IBM took him to management positions in St. Louis, Kansas City, the San Francisco Bay Area and Dallas, as well as travel around the world. He remained with IBM until his retirement in 2000.
John was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (Peggy) Mossinghoff. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Julie and John Compton, of Plano, Texas, his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Kristine Mossinghoff, of Davidson, North Carolina, his son Matthew Mossinghoff, of Frisco, Texas, his son Daniel Mossinghoff, of Denver, Colorado, and his four grandchildren Christopher, Amanda, Alexandra, and Catherine.
Services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8000 Eldorado Parkway, Frisco, Texas, on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 10:30. He will be interred at a family ceremony next to Peggy at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
